Summer Update Numero Dos on Darwin Wu.
What has happened since my last post. Hmm. I don’t know. Let’s see. Chronological order to the best of my memories.
Harry Potter. The Half Blood Prince was alright. I’m still a fan of the books over the movies. Honestly, some things the directer interpreted was just retarded. Gah. And they take out the one major fighting scene. -_-
Emily. We had a surprise birthday/going away party for her. She thought it was awkward, but I hope that she genuinely felt happy. I gave her the tote bag that was supposed to be a late present for her last birthday. And I also made her a sun jar. There is a crescent moon with stars on one side of it. And a little message on the other side. “For Em, W/ <3, -DW” I hope she likes her little gifts. But I still feel like I should have written her a card. D= Well, the day after, I went with Jack on a late night escapade to visit Em. She was originally supposed to come with us to get slurpees, but ended up having a little movie night with some people. I’m sad that she’s leaving. Although not a very close friend, she could always make me smile. I’m going to miss her. I wish I talked to her more often.
Anyways. I got to see some people for the first time since Grad at the party. Namely Kerry, Thonga, and Jesse. Heh. And the late night slurpee run with Jack. After dropping by Em’s, we met up with Darren at 7-11, where we got slurpees and an assortment of cookies and candies. We chilled at Darren’s, which was across the street. Haha. Side note, vanilla ice cream + snickerdoodle cookies is bombbbb. I wish Emily could’ve came with us though. That way I could’ve talked to her a bit more before she left for New York and so I didn’t feel like 3rd wheel (and so those two could get a little one on one.) Haha. If you’re reading this Jack, don’t hurt me!
And then, out of nowhere, Betty calls me up to ask where I lived. Turns out she was dropping by to pay me back the money I’ve spent helping her out with her parties. Hah. We made a little small talk and caught up a bit. Haven’t seen her since Grad either. So that was relatively nice to see her again.
I went to the El Monte Court with my dad so that he could pay his speeding ticket and sign up for traffic school. $202 for going 58 on a 45. $64 for traffic school. Moral of the story, don’t speed when the coppers are lurking. After that we headed to the hospital near there to get a discounted bill for his ER fees. What happened was that my dad had a shard of wood shoot into his eye. His eye was red and continually hurting for hours, so we took him to the ER. After almost 2 hours of sitting there, the doctor finally came to check on my dad. After a good few minutes of examining his eye, they decided to use a wood lamp. They touched the eye with a little piece of paper with some chemical or something on it. This made the tears a bright fluorescent green. They proceeded to shine some light that made the green glow brighter onto the eye. The diagnosis? A slight corneal abrasion, which was actually what I thought it was(scratch on the eye). Treatment? Rest. Nothing else. No antibacterial eye drops. Nothing. Guess how much the bill was? $1012. Yeah.. Imagine my reaction when I opened the letter. So onto what I was doing at the hospital after the Court. We went there to talk to some Medical worker there. I explained the situation and she said that she could write off everything buy $364. It’s not a grand, but it’s still a lot of money. D=
And after shelling out over $600 on dumb shit, we dropped by Longo since we were in the area. My dad ordered an exhaust tip for his Tacoma. It’s basically a shinier exhaust pipe. I picked it up the day after. After I balled with the guys. Oh and a note to everyone, the freeway entrance next to Longo is a trap. It’s the 10 east. Not west. True story.
Aaaand later that day, I was getting ready to go to Darren’s for a hangout time with the guys. At the same time, Angie called and told me to check my texts. Apparantly she was outside my house. =X I was like, the guys can wait. Haha. I went out with Angie to Quick’s and made some small talk and played with coins, dirtying up the table we were at. On the topic of small talk and conversations, I am a horrible small talker/conversationist. If you expect me to do all the talking in a conversation, awkward turtle. D= I’m much better at being a listener. I like to listen to what you have to say and then voice my opinion in it. I feel bad for being so boring though because Angie calls me to go out and talk, but all I do is make it semi awkward at times. =X But I’m glad that she thinks of me highly enough to want to hang out with me. Makes my day really.
Yeah. After that I met up with the guys at a Viet rice place for dinner. Oh my lord was I full. So fat. =X We then convened at Quick’s yet again. My third time that day. Hah. Ordered drinks and left to Darren’s. I mostly played Advanced! Chinese Chess with Frank. It’s our take on Chinese Chess. It’s basically whatever unit you eat, you can move that way with what you ate it with. For instance, you eat a horse with a car. Now your car can also move like a horse rather that the usual straight motion. The fun part? No limit to how many units’ movements you can “steal.” So if you were to have a car that can eat like a cannon and move like a horse and an elephant, good game. I think we played 7 games. Lol. It’s tough. For those who don’t understand Chinese Chess, allow me to explain via regular chess, which I’ve never played. Let’s say your pawn ate a horse, rook, and a bishop after a few turns. It can now eat and move in any way of those units. So your pawn can move like anywhere now. Yeah. Crazy shit. Anyways I must be boring the hell out of you.
Boarding! Oh my god. I set up an event on Facebook a good 3 days before to give people some time in advance. 4 people show up. The past times we went boarding, Kenny calls up people 2 hours before. We would get a good 7-8 people. -_- Lame. But it was all cool in the end. I drove everyone up to Madre St and California. The street was pretty dark, vegetation covered most of the lights. But oh my lord. It was amazing. Winding road. Nice pavement. Gradual downhill. We cruised down it at a good speed. 15 mph maybe? Something a bit faster than lazy cruising and how fast you can run if you were to jump off the board. Being how we were in the dark and how that none of us know the road, we were a bit scared near the end of the run. Madre intersects with Hungtington. We knew that. We were speeding up near the end. I was a little nervous. Especially since a car was coming from behind us. If anyone fell at that point the car would be there. And if we kept going at that speed, we would run into Hungtingon. Both spelling disaster. But to our good fortune, the slope evened out and we slowed down enough to a stop. And so we boarded back up. And went back down. It was extremely exhilarating. Going at that speed for a good few minutes with little effort at all. I am definately going back to that run another day. After a few exhausting runs around that area, we went to EE, the Japanese convenience store and bought ourselves some foreign drinks. Kenny ended up with green tea. Unsweetened asian green tea. Haha… And then we found out that BLac and David Dang were stranded at the mall with no way home. So we went to pick them up and shove them into the car. Hmm. I was a little nervous about 6 people in my car, but it was fine. I dropped everyone off and went home. And now here I am. Whew.
